The intention to protect your device is more than logical. It is much easier to replace a protective glass or case than to repair a broken smartphone screen. Demand breeds supply, so at some point cases, films and glass began to appear on the market. Many are of poor quality and crack at the drop of a hat, while others, like WhiteStone Dome Glass are able to withstand the toughest tests and are glued on in a very unusual way.

But let’s go back in time a bit. Do you remember the very first film you put on your smartphone in the vague hope of protecting it from various disasters? We do. And we also remember all those shamanic dancing that went along with it. You had to go into the bathroom, turn on the hot water, which supposedly helped to settle the dust, stock up on patience, alcohol and a screen cleaning cloth – and stick, peel and stick again and again until a record number of nerve cells were lost.

It was roughly the same story with the first screen protectors. And if the root of the problem had only been the difficulty of sticking it on smoothly and without bubbles; but the level of protection also seemed quickly to raise dim doubts as to whether the screen was immune to scratches, let alone shocks.

But everything changed when they came on the market – the WhiteStone Dome Glass UV– glasses for iPhone and Apple Watch.

Made in Korea

The WhiteStone brand is originally from South Korea and has been supplying the market with accessories for 15 years. Its creators’ mission is

to develop reliable glasses for the most demanding users. To realize this initiative the team follows the “4A” principles: absolute clarity, absolute response, absolute protection and absolute retention.

WhiteStone Dome Glass UV glasses were created specifically for the next generation iPhone and Apple Watch with rounded edges. The company was the first in the world to invent and patent them, presenting them at the IFA in Berlin in September 2016. Six months later, WhiteStone completed the development of the DIY glass and entered the global market with the new product.

This result is made possible by LOCA (Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive) technology. It is a revolutionary substance, the creation of which requires serious financial resources. Most manufacturers can’t afford the expense, so they continue to produce cheap glass which the user often has to replace due to its poor quality.

How does it work?

It is all about the already-mentioned LOCA technology. The bonding process uses a special polymer, which is distributed in liquid form over the entire surface of the screen and baked under the influence of an ultraviolet lamp. By creating a single layer without voids, it is possible to prevent air chambers between the screen and the glass.

The glass is mounted as tightly as possible to the screen and the thin layer of glue acts as a cushion. This is why, when an impact occurs, the force of the impact is evenly distributed across the entire surface. This makes it difficult to damage the protective glass and virtually impossible to damage the screen.

By the way, if you decide to remove the protection, it’s not difficult to do so. There won’t be a trace of glue left behind.

If you’re curious to see the entire process of gluing the glass, we’ve made an in-depth video.

Supply package

The manufacturer has produced two types of kit – with and without a UV lamp. The kit without the lamp is available at retail. And as installing WhiteStone Dome Glass requires professional equipment, we offer an additional option for you: a glass fitting service. You can enjoy it when you visit any of our iSpace stores. Our consultants will also advise you on glass and case compatibility.

So, the package includes a protective glass, glue, a plastic tray to fix the smartphone, a “bridge” to hold the tube of glue, a slider, a microfiber cloth, a wet wipe, stickers to remove dust.

You can feel the care for the customer; the manufacturer has thought of every detail. Imagine, they even remembered to put duct tape to seal the speaker, so that the glue would not inadvertently get into its holes.

Important details

In order to ensure that there are no questions or doubts, all that remains is to complete our review with a couple of important features inherent in WhiteStone Dome Glass.

And one of them is camouflage. Of course, the glass is primarily designed to protect the screen from any damage. But Dome Glass does an excellent job of masking any cracks, scratches, or dents that already exist on the display. See how a user was unlucky enough to break a smart watch and how it looks without replacing the original screen, but with the WhiteStone Dome Glass application. Miracles, indeed!

The important thing is that the display retains its appearance, remains thin and sensitive to touch.

And by the way, while you can still try and find some decent screen protection options for the iPhone, for the Apple Watch WhiteStone Dome Glass is the only solution worthy of your attention and money.
