- Storage. SSD performance based on the new-generation architecture has increased by up to 2 times. The M5 Max supports up to 8TB of SSD storage, while the M5 Ultra is available with up to 16TB.
- Unified memory. M5 Max and M5 Ultra versions offer up to 128GB and 512GB of unified memory, respectively. You can run large language models (LLMs) directly on the device, as well as easily create videos and images.
- AI performance. With the M5 Max, AI performance is up to 3.9 times higher than the previous generation. At peak performance, the M5 Ultra is up to 4.3 times faster than the M3 Ultra and up to 9.8 times faster than the M1 Ultra.
- Memory bandwidth. The M5 Max configuration provides up to 614GB/s of unified memory bandwidth. The M5 Ultra delivers up to 1.2TB/s, which is twice the bandwidth of the 2025 generation.
The new chips expand the capabilities of the workstation. The computer supports macOS 27 Golden Gate with Apple Intelligence features. At the time of the announcement, Siri AI was in beta testing and supported English only.
Mac Studio 2026 Overview
