When Did WWDC 2026 Take Place? 

WWDC 2026 began on June 8. During the Keynote presentation held the same day, Apple showed the main announcements, including new operating systems and artificial intelligence features. The official OS versions will be released this fall. 

Main Announcements from WWDC 2026 

During the conference, the company introduced a full-fledged AI assistant — Siri AI. It uses the features of the updated Apple Intelligence neural network and works on iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. 

The Liquid Glass design, which appeared last year, has become adaptive in the new generation: users can adjust the transparency level of the “glass” themselves. 

One of the key topics of the presentation was child safety. Apple devices now have expanded tools for protection against unwanted content and access to certain websites. Parents will be able to decide whom their child can reply to in messages and calls, as well as set schedules for different apps depending on the day of the week. 

What’s New in iOS 27? 

The main update is the Siri AI voice assistant, which appeared on both smartphones and other Apple devices. It now has a separate app that saves conversation history: you can start a conversation on your iPhone and continue it, for example, on your Apple Watch. Siri AI takes personal content into account and responds based on previous conversations. The assistant recognizes images and provides information about them: for example, if you see a beautiful location on social media, ask Siri, and it will find it on the map. 

Other improvements include: 

• in Photos, users can extend an image and change the angle in an existing picture; the tools will appear in the same window as the already familiar Clean Up feature; 

• shared iCloud albums can now be accessed from Android and Windows devices, so photos from a party no longer have to be sent to everyone separately via messenger; 

• the adaptive equalizer for headphones allows users to customize the sound for AirPods. 

The speed and stability of iOS have improved. Files are now transferred via AirDrop 80% faster, photos are added after being taken 70% faster, and apps launch 30% faster. iOS 27 will be supported on iPhone 11 and newer models. However, AI features will be available on devices starting with the iPhone 15 Pro. 

What’s New in macOS 27? 

macOS 27 is available for all Mac models except those with Intel processors. Support for them has been discontinued. The operating system is called Golden Gate, named after the bridge in San Francisco. 

Visually, macOS has become more convenient: 

• sidebar menu icons are now colored; 

• the top toolbar has been unified; 

• the same corner radius is used for all windows. 

The conversational Siri AI assistant is also available in macOS 27. It is integrated into Spotlight, so users can ask questions directly there. Thanks to Visual Intelligence, the assistant understands what is happening on the screen and can search for information from photos, just like on iPhone. 

What’s New in iPadOS 27? 

iPadOS 27 also comes with the updated Siri AI. On the tablet, it is now easier to: 

• generate and edit text with Write with Siri; 

• quickly analyze written content through Ask Siri; 

• check grammar at the system level. 

Users can now switch between windows, minimize and close them, and launch app extensions without the slightest delay. There is also an option to pin the menu bar to the screen, so gestures are no longer needed. 

Liquid Glass has also changed visually. Users can easily customize the interface to suit their preferences. The OS will run on iPad models with the M1 chip and newer, as well as on some devices with A-series processors. 

What’s New in watchOS 27? 

Siri AI will also appear on smartwatches: users will be able to ask it questions or get advice. For example, you can ask it about the weather or request tips to improve your workout technique. 

Apple has released updates for sports and health monitoring. Algorithms now determine treadmill distance more accurately, eliminating common errors. The Workout Buddy assistant uses workout history and gives tips without an iPhone, so there is no need to keep your smartphone nearby. The Health app now includes a menopause detection feature: the system will notify users if it records changes and will offer educational materials. 

A new gesture has been introduced for Smart Stack: simply pinch your index finger and thumb together. The stack itself has also become more convenient: it can remind you about a friend’s upcoming birthday or show where you left your car.

Apple fans finally got a major update to the Siri assistant. It has been integrated into almost all apps, from Phone to Camera. The company confirmed its partnership with Google: Apple Intelligence now works together with Gemini. Developers also added several new features to visionOS 27 and tvOS 27, including the updated neural network.
