Design of the New Smartphone
Unlike the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max with its 6.9-inch display, the iPhone 18 Pro is more compact: its Super Retina XDR OLED display measures 6.3 inches.
One of the key design updates is the enhanced Dynamic Island, which can expand to accommodate more notifications. It now displays up to three Live Activities at the same time. As before, Face ID is supported, making unlocking, purchase confirmations, signing in to apps, and other actions fast and secure.
The devices in the new lineup are available in four colors. These include the new Burgundy, as well as:

Processor and Performance of the Pro Lineup
The specifications of the iPhone 18 Pro were influenced by the new A20 Pro processor, built using a 2-nanometer process. It has contributed to a noticeable increase in performance, artificial intelligence capabilities, and graphics performance.
The A20 Pro features a 6-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, while the 7-core GPU is equipped with Neural Accelerators. AI computations are also handled by a separate Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Compared with its predecessor, memory bandwidth has doubled, allowing the device to handle complex tasks and process large amounts of data even faster.
The 7-core GPU delivers up to 40% higher performance compared with the previous lineup. This makes it easier to:
- perform rendering;
- process photo and video content;
- run resource-intensive games.
Compared with the iPhone 17 Pro, the surface area of the new vapor chamber has tripled. As a result, sustained performance has increased by up to 40%. The device can handle prolonged resource-intensive workloads and demanding games with ease.
AI content processing performance has doubled compared with the A19 Pro. This was made possible by the Dual 16-core Neural Engine.
As before, the flagship supports Apple Intelligence. The device’s capabilities include:
- Siri AI — the assistant uses personal context and can access information from photos, email, and other data;
- Onscreen Awareness — Siri recognizes content on the display and can perform related actions;
- Spatial Reframing — allows you to change the composition of a photo;
- Image Playground — generates photorealistic images.
Some AI features are processed directly on the smartphone. More complex operations use the Private Cloud Compute cloud technology. It was created to process resource-intensive Apple Intelligence requests. Apple’s privacy and security principles also apply to it. Please note that the feature is unavailable in some languages.
iPhone 18 Pro Cameras
One of the key changes is the main 48 MP Fusion camera, which now automatically adjusts the aperture size based on lighting conditions and the required depth of field. In other words, the camera adapts to any conditions — whether it is bright sunlight or a dark street — and determines whether to blur the background for a portrait or keep it sharp for a landscape. The camera update also significantly improves image quality, including in Night mode.
Improved photo processing and a new sensor help reproduce details more accurately. For those who need greater control over shooting, a set of Pro Controls has been added to the Camera app. It allows users to manually adjust professional settings such as shutter speed, white balance, and lens aperture.
The Apple Reference Image feature has been added to verify the authenticity of photographs. In a special mode, the camera saves signed sensor data. This information is used to create an immutable reference image. Apple Reference Image may not be needed often for everyday photos, but it will be particularly useful for journalists, photographers, and professionals who need to verify that an image has not been altered and confirm its origin.
The updated Photographic Styles received new texture and grain settings. They make it possible to adjust the image’s color characteristics and skin tones more precisely.
The changes also affected video capabilities. In Time-lapse mode, videos can now be recorded in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision HDR support. Audio Mix algorithms help improve voice quality and separate voices from music.
Battery and Battery Life
The battery design has been updated. Thanks to this, as well as the energy-efficient A20 Pro, the device can continuously play video for up to 36 hours.
Fast wired charging is available — the smartphone can be charged to 50% in 15 minutes. With wireless charging, it can reach 50% in half an hour.
