Large Display and Design

The iPhone 18 Pro Max features a Super Retina XDR OLED display with the following specifications:

• screen size — 6.9 inches;
• pixel density — 460 ppi;
• resolution — 2868 × 1320 pixels;
• refresh rate — adaptive, up to 120Hz with ProMotion.

The large display provides more screen space for video editing, photo processing, working with spreadsheets, and gaming. Its high resolution ensures sharp details. Typical brightness reaches 1,000 nits, increasing to 1,600 nits when viewing HDR content and up to 3,000 nits outdoors in bright sunlight. This keeps text readable and on-screen content clearly visible from different viewing angles, even in direct sunlight.

Dynamic Island is now smaller, freeing up more usable screen space. It can also display up to three Live Activities simultaneously.

The frame is made of aluminum. The display is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, while the back features Ceramic Shield. The smartphone is slightly heavier than its predecessor. Measuring 163.4 × 78 × 8.75 mm, it weighs 249 g — 16 g more than the previous model. You can already pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro Max at iSpace. iPhone 18 Pro Max Cameras and Zoom

The new iPhone 18 Pro Max offers even more possibilities for photography. The camera system retains its traditional three-lens setup, with each camera featuring a 48MP sensor. The biggest innovation is the variable aperture on the main camera. Inside the lens, six blades adjust the aperture opening, allowing you to control the depth of field and the amount of light entering the camera. You can adjust it directly in the Camera app, with four available settings: ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8, and ƒ/4.

Background blur in portraits can now be controlled optically rather than through software algorithms. This produces smoother transitions and eliminates unwanted blurring around fine details, such as hair strands or eyeglass frames. If you prefer not to adjust these settings manually, simply use Auto mode. The camera will select the appropriate settings automatically to deliver excellent results.

The 18MP Center Stage front camera remains unchanged. It supports automatic framing for group photos, Dual Capture, and automatic subject tracking to keep you centered during video calls. All these features were first introduced in 2025.

For video recording, the available formats include 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision, ProRes RAW, and Apple Log 2. A new feature now lets you apply the Cinematic effect to videos you’ve already recorded.

Another new feature is Apple Reference Image. It creates a secure reference image that verifies a photo was captured with a physical camera rather than generated by AI or edited in Photoshop.

Battery Life of the New iPhone Pro Max

When it comes to battery life, the iPhone 18 Pro Max sets a new record: the smartphone offers up to 45 hours of video playback. By comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro delivers up to 36 hours under the same conditions, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers up to 39 hours.

The phone supports fast charging, allowing you to restore approximately 50% of the battery in just 15 minutes using a 60W power adapter. Just five minutes of charging provides enough power for up to six hours of video playback. The device also supports wireless charging.

Performance and Capabilities of the New Chip

At the heart of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the A20 Pro chipset. It features:

• a 6-core CPU;
• a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators;
• two 16-core Neural Engines.

Together, the chip’s Neural Engines provide 32 cores dedicated to machine learning, ensuring smooth graphics performance and advanced AI capabilities. Compared to the previous generation, the GPU is up to 40% faster, while memory bandwidth has increased by 50%.

The smartphone also features an improved cooling system designed to prevent overheating. The chip and memory are positioned inside the device to transfer heat directly to the vapor chamber, which now has three times the surface area. As a result, the phone maintains consistent brightness and performance without excessive heating, even under demanding workloads such as gaming.

The device comes with iOS 27 pre-installed and supports the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. The upgraded intelligent assistant can recognize what’s happening on your screen and remember personal context. For example, you can ask Siri AI to find a specific email or edit a photo.
