2025 iPad Pro M5 Overview: Features of the New Model

Release Date and the Start of the iPad Pro M5 Sales

The 1 and 2 TB models have nano-textured glass for even better glare protection — these versions are slightly more expensive. 

The screen supports optimal contrast and is equipped with ProMotion and True Tone technologies. The device is great for watching movies, playing games, editing photos and videos, creating design projects, and coding — it can literally handle anything. 

Camera 

The gadget is equipped with a 12 MP wide-angle camera with 5x digital zoom, adaptive True Tone flash, and a LiDAR scanner for working with three-dimensional space. Center Stage technology on the front camera automatically keeps you in the frame, even if you move around, which is convenient during video calls. 

Video recording is supported in 4K ProRes format with cinematic stabilization. The device has four studio-quality speakers and microphones. 

Network 

Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7 with an N1 chip and simultaneous dual-band support provide a secure connection for quickly transferring photos, documents, and large files. The model has a C1X modem for faster 5G connectivity, as in the iPhone Air, and eSIM technology. 

M5 Chip Specifications 

This innovative development is a new processor. Improvements in the M5 chip compared to the previous version: 

• response speed and performance increased by 20%, memory bandwidth by 30%; 

• energy efficiency and overall computing power increased; 

• Graphics performance has increased significantly. 

• Special attention has been paid to artificial intelligence tasks. 

The processor is designed with an emphasis on long battery life and AI options. Important changes have been made to Apple Intelligence performance, which has increased 3.5 times compared to the M4. Special attention has been paid to privacy and data protection, so you can use the capabilities of your personal intelligence system without worry. 

So, the M5 chip performs tasks significantly faster than the M4. We have compiled some examples: 

• 3D ray tracing rendering — 1.5 times faster; 

• video transcoding in Final Cut Pro — 1.2 times faster; 

• AI image generation in Draw Things — 2 times faster; 

• AI video scaling in DaVinci Resolve — 2.3 times faster. 

The multithreading and graphics performance capabilities of the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU with a neural accelerator in each core are 20-30% higher than the previous generation. The 16-core Neural Engine complements the neural accelerators in the processors, significantly improving LLM. 

By increasing memory bandwidth to 153 GB/s, the gadget performs complex computing tasks faster and works with 3D graphics or architectural projects. Gamers, artists, programmers, and those who appreciate a high-quality screen and compact size but don’t want to sacrifice performance will appreciate the updates. 

Power and Battery 

The device’s energy efficiency is impressive. The battery lasts for a whole day of use — without recharging, it can withstand up to 10 hours of video viewing or surfing the Internet via Wi-Fi. When connected via a mobile network, the battery life reaches 9 hours. The device supports fast charging and can be charged to 50% in just half an hour via the Thunderbolt/USB 4 port from a 60W adapter. 

Software and Feature Updates 

The 2025 device supports multitasking, professional applications, external displays, and accessories (such as a keyboard and stylus). Let’s compare the specifications and capabilities of the new model with the previous series. 

The device, powered by iPadOS 26 and featuring a Liquid Glass design, enables fast and efficient work in professional applications.
